CORPUS DELICTI
corpus delicti is a group exhibition with artists Anne Dyhr & Luna Scales – the prize winners of KE-prisen 2018.
Exhibition period: May 4-24, 2019
corpus delicti is Latin and means ‘the body of the crime’. With this exhibition Anne Dyhr and Luna Scales challenge our sense of what is normal through works that uncompromisingly describe a life with mental disorders and physical disability, respectively.
corpus delicti was created in collaboration with Kunstnernes Efterårsudstilling and was a satellite exhibition that spanned over the two exhibition spaces OK Corral and LOKALE.
Anne Dyhr works with photography in an expanded field and creates assemblages that highlight the chaos and vulnerability of the mind in a society that is becoming increasingly rigorous. Through photography she depicts her own body placed and displaced in a home environment. These elements – the position of the body, the clothing, the interior and the atmosphere – are abstracted and reworked into sculptural elements created of materials from everyday life and the home environment.
Luna Scales takes her point of departure in the western art history’s iconic portraits of naked women’s bodies in her video works. The use of few effects creates a hypersensitivity to any bodily movement by the filmed subject. It is also what makes us aware of the fact that this subject, that displays itself for our gaze, has a body with impaired function and disability.
The exhibition was supported by: The Danish Arts Foundation, the Council for Visual Arts – the City of Copenhagen, Nørrebro Local Committee.
Walk n’ Talk
On May 23, 2019 the artists Anne Dyhr and Luna Scales did an artist talk moderated by curator assistant Patricia Breinholm. It was formulated as a walk n’ talk that started at LOKALE and continued to OK Corral – the two spaces that each accommodated a part of the exhibition corpus delicti.
