Program
1-3 pm / Meditation over art(work) with Anu Ramdas & Kristoffer Ørum
Meditationer over kunst(virksomhed) is a form of conversation about art in connection to the group exhibition: ‘I would prefer not to,’. It is an attempt to create an environment in which we make time for immersion. Each meditation is unique and developed specifically for the artists involved or the work on show. By taking time to look at an artwork from different angles and introducing methods that are not normally perceived as analytic tools within the arts we hope to create other conversations about art. We want to challenge our relationship to art and move beyond a point of logic.
In this last meditation over art(work) we have invited artists Anu Ramdas and Kristoffer Ørum to join us to talk about the artworks exhibited at I meter I and their artistic practice. At the exhibition, I would prefer not to, they have both examined notation as a communication form and what emerges when the elements in the system don’t work. We also see common features in their artistic practices and how they challenge the limits of technology.
3.30 pm / Performance lecture O(h)n no mr. B. with Marie Thams
In this performance Marie Thams approaches the main character Bartleby, from Melville’s novel Bartleby the Scrivener (1853), in a new way.
With O(h)n no mr. B. Thams wishes to tackle the possibilities of no which Bartleby is a witness to. Taking a starting point from their first meeting in 2010 and up to the present she looks at the development of her examinations and interest for Bartleby’s “prefer not to” with an eye for the opportunity to act in negation. With renewed focus on her original questions for Bartleby: “What did you do before stopping doing so?”, the tone is set by a continuous insistence on the intangible production and human “unproductive” will (seen in the light of late capitalism’s labour market logics) which is now linked to a call for action to Mr. B.
17.15 pm / Superman pt.0.2 – live sound by Peter Birkholm
Superman pt.02 is a sound piece and a festive add-on to the installation “Untitled (slave hypnosis), der bliver udført live.” With both the installation and sound piece Peter Birkholm works in the sphere of negation.
