BIOGRAPHY OF PARTICIPANTS
Anne Boyer
Anne Boyer is an American poet and essayist. She debuted in 2008 with the poetry collection The Romance of Happy Workers. Last year she received the Pulitzer Prize. Her latest book The Undying: Pain, vulnerability, mortality, medicine, art, time, dreams, data, exhaustion, cancer, and care (2019) is a mediation on cancer treatment and capitalism and is currently being translated into Danish by the writers and translators Ditte Holm Bro and Andreas Eckhardt-Læssøe. Ditte Holm Bro will read excerpts of her poetry at this festival.
Bjørn Rasmussen
Bjørn Rasmussen is a Danish writer with an education from Dramatikeruddannelsen and Forfatterskolen. Rasmussen debuted as a playwriter in 2004. He received Montanas Litteraturpris for his novel Huden er det elastiske hylster der omgiver hele legemet (2011). He has also written the novels Pynt (2013) and Jeg er Gråhvid (2018) as well as the poetry collection Ming (2015).
Carsten Juhl
Carsten Juhl is a former head of department of Theory and Communication at the Royal Danish Art Academy and has translated philosophical literary works by philosophers such as Giorgio Agamben, Immanuel Kant, Jean-Francois Lyotard etc. He has written several non-fictional books like Globalæstetik: Verdensfølelsen og det kosmopolitiske perspektiv (2008), Hvad der ikke kunne fortsætte og hvad der ikke kunne begynde – Maj 68, forudsætninger og følger (2014) and Opstandens Underlag (2020).
Caspar Eric
Caspar Eric is a Danish poet and translator. He has a master’s degree in Literary studies from the University of Copenhagen and debuted at the Norwegian underground publishing company AFV Press with jegtænkerpådetværelsejegharsometanalogtinternet. He has since published poetry collections such as 7/11 (2014), Nike (2015) and Jeg vil ikke tilbage (2020).
Claudia Rankine
Claudia Rankine is a Jamaican and American poet, essayist, and playwriter. She made her debut in 1994 with the poetry collection Nothing in Nature is Private. Rankine has been awarded several prizes. In 2014 she received the Los Angeles Times Book Award for her poetry collection Citizen: An American Lyric which was on the New York Times bestseller list. Her most recent book Det hvide kort (2019, English: The White Card: A Play) and her poetry collection Lad mig ikke være ensom (2018, English: Don’t Let Me Be Lonely: An American Lyric) was translated by the writer and translator Liv Nimand Duvå who will read excerpts of Rankine’s poetry at this festival.
David Zimmerman
David Zimmerman is a Swedish poet, critic, and organizer of the literary festival Malmötxt. He is the editor of the poetry journal Lyrikvännen. In 2017 he made his debut with the poetry collection Mal and in 2019 Ljus och strålning was published. In 2019 he was awarded Samfundet De Nios Julpris.
Fatemeh Ekhtesari
Fatemeh Ekhtesari is an Iranian poet. She is an educated midwife and has been the editor for a literary journal in Tehran. Ekhtesari lives in Norway as a fribyforfatter. Amongst her work, she has published the poetry collection Feminist discussions before cooking potatoes. In 2020 a selection of her poems was published in the poetry collection Vi overlever ikke i norsk oversættelse.
Fatuma Awil
Fatuma Awil is a Swedish poet. She works with collective experiences and configurations as resistance strategies. She has made contributions to the journal Mana, Women Making History, Malmös feministiska röster, and wrote the text “Jag har tänkt på oss och våra utmattade kroppar” for the Arbetarskrivares anthology.
Fedaa Sultan
Fedaa Sultan is a Palestinian and Egyptian performance artist and curator. He is the founder of and runs the POC based exhibition venue Underbanen in Copenhagen and works in the area between art and activism.
Frida Pihl
Frida Pihl is a Danish poet. She is studying at the creative writing school Nytforum for Skrift and has earlier been at the writing school Skrivekreds i Nordvest. Pihl’s writing style is brief and consists of slight lyric poetry that often contains sensitivity, longing, and latent anger. Her poems process a feminine and ecological experience where they often are based on the erotic and the bodily element with an investigative and metamorphic intake on nature. The main interests of the poems are ecocriticism and feminism and they can be connected to the tradition and concept of écriture féminine.
Glenn Christian
Glenn Christian is a Danish poet and writer. He has published fourteen books and has moved further and further into linguistic exaggerations through his authorship. He writes about wild and bizarre landscapes. All the kinds of bodies present in his books are heavily affected by illness and are often transformed into different types of animals. Christian might be classified as the wildest sci-fi poet in Denmark.
Gry Stokkendahl Dalgas
Gry Stokkendahl Dalgas is a Danish lecturer and writer who has an education from Talentskolens Forfatterlinje. In 2019 she made her debut with the poetry collection Det er herfra jeg vil begynde at tale, disse ord kan finde vej. She has been awarded the Bodil award and the Jørgen Munch-Christensens Culture Scholarship in 2020.
Helena Boberg
Helena Boberg is a Swedish poet and translator. She made her debut in 2011 with the poetry collection Repul and has translated Vingeslag by Shadi A. Bazeghi and Jeg, Unica by Kristine Refstrup.
Inger Elisabeth Hansen
Inger Elisabeth Hansen is a Norwegian poet and translator. She is regarded as one of Norway’s most distinctive and characteristic lyric poets. Hansen has written nine poetry collections and has translated several literary works by Spanish speaking writers. She has received the Brageprisen amongst others and was nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize in 2004.
Jenny Tunedal
Jenny Tunedal is an award-winning Swedish poet, translator, and critic. She has been the editor for the poetry journal Lyrikvännen and has written several poetry collections such as Rosor Skador (2017) and Mitt krig, sviter (2011). Several of her works have been translated into Danish. Tunedal is also a principal and senior lecturer for the Litterär Gestaltning department at the University of Gothenburg.
Jessie Kleemann
Jessie Kleemann is a Greenlandic artist who lives in Copenhagen. Her performances evolve intuitively and often respond to the room and the audience around her. She frequently explores subjects connected to the darker side of Greenlandic society to visualize the ambivalence that can be in the relationship between the people Greenland and their cultural heritage.
Julie Sten-Knudsen
Julie Sten-Knudsen is a Danish poet and translator. Sten-Knudsen has an education in Litterär Gestaltning from the University of Gothenburg and has a master’s degree in Literary studies from the University of Copenhagen. She received a prize from the Danish Arts Foundation in 2011 for her debut poetry collection Hjem er en retning. In 2013 she published poetry collection Atlanterhavet vokser and most recently Jeg drømte om at få den østlige takvinge at se igen (2020).
Karoline Brændjord
Karoline Brændjord is a Norwegian poet. She went to the Skrivekunstakademiet in Hordaland and has studied North American studies and Social Anthropology at the University of Oslo. Her first poetry collection called Jeg vil våkne til verden was published in 2020.
Khashayar Naderehvandi
Khashayar Naderehvandi is a Swedish writer and translator. He made his debut as a poet in 2011 and as a novelist in 2013. He has an education in philosophy and has a PhD in Artistic Gestaltning from the Valand Academy, University of Gothenburg.
Lesley-Ann Brown
Lesley-Ann Brown is an American and Trinidadian writer that lives in Denmark. Her works have been published in both American and European journals and she has contributed to and helped to create the poetry collection Say It Loud! Her latest book Decolonial Daughter: Letters from a Black Woman to Her European Son was published in 2018 in England.
Merima Dizdarević
Merima Dizdarević is a Yugoslavian born poet that also has an artistic practice that includes performance and music. Dizdarević writes in both Swedish, English, and naški. She has a master’s degree in Litterär Gestaltning from Valand Academy, University of Gothenburg.
Mikas Lang
Mikas Lang is a Danish poet and translator. He debuted with the poetry collection Melanin in 2019 and has translated the poetry collection called På tværs af historier by Frank B. Wilderson III in 2020. His most recent book called Og spøgelser was published this year.
Nanna Storr-Hansen
Nanna Storr-Hansen is a Danish poet who graduated from Forfatterskolen in 2016. She made her debut in 2017, has written three poetry collections and has made contributions to journals in Denmark, Sweden, and the USA. With a specific and feminine human body as her starting point and source material, her writing moves within a dynamic universe where the human body, the landscape, animals, language, and other nature are often entangled in each other.
Nicolaj Stochholm
Nicolaj Stochholm is a Danish poet. He made his debut in 1991 and has recently published the poetry collections Pesthospitalet (2018) and De III aldre (2020). He has been awarded the Michael Strunge Prisen and Det Danske Akademis Beatricepris.
Oskar Fehlauer
Oskar Fehlauer is a Danish poet and editor for the cross-Nordic journal Hæfte. He is currently studying Litterär Gestaltning at the University of Gothenburg and has published poems in Slagtryk and Addenda.
Pedro Carmona-Alvarez
Pedro Carmona-Alvarez is a Norwegian poet and musician. He debuted in 1997 with the poetry collection Helter. Amongst his several novels are La det bare bli blåmerker igen (2000) and Rust (2009). He was awarded the Cappelen Prize in 2004. In 2020 he published the poetry collection Inventarium.
Peter Borum
Peter Borum is an external senior lecturer in French at the English, German and Romanian Studies Department at the University of Copenhagen. He has been the editor for the anthology Gæstfrihed i kunst og politik – Hospitality in Art and Politics – Hospitalité en art et en politique (2016) and has written several scientific articles such as: “The Notion of ‘Singularity’ in the Work of Gilles Deleuze”(2017) and “Cypernetique et culture” (2016).
Peter Brandt
Peter Brandt is a Danish artist who explores the complicated relationship between the individual and collective trauma through his work. He uses his own life and body as source material and in correlation to studies regarding masculinity, trauma theory, and art history.
Robin May Schott
Robin May Schott is a philosopher affiliated with the Danish Institute for International Studies the Danish Institute for International Studies who works in the areas of gender studies, genocide studies, ethics, political theory. She has written several articles such as: “Misplaced Gratitude and the Ethics of Oppression” for the journal Metaphilosophy (2016), and “’Not Just Victims…But’: Toward a Critical Theory of the Victim” for the anthology Women and Violence (2015).
Theis Ørntoft
Theis Ørntoft is a Danish poet. He studied Literary studies at the University of Copenhagen before he was accepted to Forfatterskolen in 2007. He also makes music and is a part of the band Twins Twins. He was awarded the Bodil Prize and the Jørgen Munch-Christensens Culture Scholarship for his debut poetry collection Yeahsuiten in 2009 and has since published two books Digte 2014 (2014) and Solar (2018).
Tua Forsström
Tua Forsström is a Finish born Swedish writer. She was awarded the Nordic Council Literature Prize for her poetry collection Efter att ha tillbringat og natt bland hästar (English: After Having Spent the Night Among Horses) in 1998. In 2020 her poetry collection En aften i oktober roede jeg ud på søen & Optegnelser was translated into Danish by the writers and translators Maja Lucas and Kamilla Löfström who will read excerpts of her poetry at this festival.
Yong Sun Gullach
Yong Sun Gullach is a Korean-Danish artist. She works from a feminist and interdisciplinary perspective between performance, text, sculptures, film, sound, and activism. Gullach examines the endless reconstructions transnationally adopted people have to live through within the neocolonial global north; the body in the diaspora and as archive as well as trauma and pain.
