Linda Lazer is a sound and performance artist currently based in Outer Space. Influenced by African cosmology and 80ies cold wave, ze tries to convey the mood and atmosphere evoked from spending to much time watching the night sky. Mixing the unstable tones of a Korg synthesizer of days past, afrofuturism and sci-fi thematics, zir dark wavering electronic tones, shapes an otherworldly vision of our very worldly desires and flaws; From sexual chemistry to genocide.

Shaking the habitual: When does the future begin?
March 3 – June 23 2018
For the exhibition Linda Lazer presents the video and installation Towards a New Consciousness. Interwining traces from the past and the present to reimagine a future utopian alternative, the four videos goes through four stages. From the human species destroying each other and the planet, to the planet destroying us, then rising up from the ashes as a new cosmic race connected to each other and to the planet. Developed with inspiration from Gloria Anzaldua’s book Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza, envisioning a utopic future where borders between races, genders, human and nature are erased.
